Kamakshi Apartments, a venture of Grih Mantralaya Cooperative Group Housing Society, was formed in the early eighties by a group of people working in the Home Ministry. According to the management of the Society, the apartments were constructed in the late nineties. “The construction of the Society was started in 1994 and it was ready for possession by 1999. There are total 120 flats in which 85 are 3 BHK and 35 are 2 BHK with an area of 1,400 sqft and 1,000 sqft respectively,” informs Sanjay Jain, Treasurer of the society. Known for its cultural diversity, cleanliness, low height and safety, the complex has 6 towers, five floors in each. "The best part of Kamakshi is its location and infrastructure," says President of the society, RC Khatri.
Being located in the heart of the sub city, the Society is almost equidistant from two Master Plan Road: 202 and 201. This makes it easily accessible through public transport as major bus routes like RL75, RL77, RL79, 781, 764, West Mudrika pass through the area. The nearest Metro stations from the Society are at Sector 10 and Sector 11. One can hire an auto or cycle rickshaw to reach the Society from the Metro stations and vice-versa.
The Society maintenance team consists of electricians, plumbers and gardeners.
Markets of Sector 6 and Sector 10, DDA Market of Sector 6 and Bank Market provide for all essential and luxury goods. The Society has its own Mother Dairy booth. A weekly market is also organised on Tuesdays for fresh vegetables.
All residents are allotted open parking in the Society.
A team of 6 guards work hand-in-hand with 20 CCTV cameras to ensure safety of the Society.
The Society has 9 parks including two big parks and a playground. There is a ladies club and a cultural club too. Ample open spaces make the Society a walker's paradise.
