Residents of Ghaziabad's Crossings Republik have decided to block NH 24 on November 13 as a protest against the inaction of authorities on civic issues. Members of resident bodies in the area have urged fellow residents to assemble in front of the Crossings Glass Gate for solidarity.

One of the major issues concerning residents is the absence of a proper approach and exit road for Crossings Republik, which is home to more than 30,000 residents. A narrow approach road starts at NH 24, passes through the complex and leads to Noida Extension via Village Shaberi. The residents, however, want an alternative route from the highway to Noida Extension via Rishpalgarhi village.

Sanjay Jha, board member of the Gaur Global Village, said this alternative road was the need of the hour, as the existing route was encroached upon by hawkers and observed heavy traffic at peak hours every day.

Residents also said that despite numerous warnings and notices by Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), the Continental Carbon India Limited factory continued to pollute the area.

Speaking to City Spidey, Niranjan Gupta, a resident of Mahagun Mascot, said Crossings Republik has also been grappling with basic civic issues such as the absence of hospitals and fire stations and inadequate power and water supply.

"We are blocking the highway out of desperation and helplessness," said Gupta. "We have approached all the authorities responsible but have not received a satisfactory response from any of them."
