Raghavendra Yadav, executive engineer of PVVNL (Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd), called a meeting with the residents of Supertech Capetown in Noida Sector 74 and the builder on September 9. The meeting, held at Yadav's Sector 25 office, was aimed at resolving resident issues related to power supply, electricity bills and charges for new connections.

Shailendra Baranwal, a resident, told City Spidey that all their issues were discussed at the meeting. It was decided that the builder would no longer be deducting the common-area maintenance charges from the prepaid amount meant for electricity paid by the residents. Yadav, however, authorised the builder to disconnect power supply to a flat if maintenance charges were not paid by the 10th of every month. It was decided that the builder would intimate the resident prior to disconnecting power through SMS or any other medium decided by the residents.

Yadav also warned the builder of strict action against them if they continued to charge residents on the kVA (kilo volt amperes) of power consumed. As per rules, power is to be charged on the kilo watt amperes (kWA) consumed. Yadav confirmed that a fixed rate of Rs 5.94 per unit will be charged by the builder this month onwards.

Residents also complained of the builder charging an exorbitant Rs 20,000 for a new connection. Yadav asked the builder to submit the balance sheet of new connections to reach an informed decision.

"A written order encompassing all problems will be issued in five days from now," said Yadav. "We assure residents that PVVNL will take strict action against the builder if they do not follow rules."
