The newly elected managing committee of United India Apartments, a cooperative group housing society (CGHS) in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension, has put its foot down and decided to stop all unauthorised construction carried out by residents inside the society. The move came a day after residents and members of the committee discussed the issue at a general body meeting on Sunday.

Several residents have changed the facade of their flats, which has changed the original design by Dehi Development Authority (DDA). Many have even encroached upon common areas to create parking space for their cars.

"This has been an issue for the past five or six years," said Purusottam Das Bhatt, president of the CGHS. "We are going to take it seriously and ensure this practice comes to an end. We will issue notices to all flat owners guilty of such construction."
