Residents of Supertech Capetown, a residential society in Sector 74, Noida, took out a candle march in the society in protest against the hike in maintenance charge by the builder on Saturday.

According to residents, the maintenance charge was Rs 2.50 per sqft when they got possession of their flats in 2015, but the new maintenance charge is Rs 2.75 per sqft. Residents are also dissatisfied with the basic amenities provided by the builder.

Sanjeev Sharma, a resident, told City Spidey that builder has failed to honour the commitments it made like a playground for children, club house and swimming pool. He added, "The builder is supplying high TDS ground water instead of Ganga water."

Rakesh Singh, another resident, said that not only the power supply by the builder is poor, but the rate of Rs 16 per KVA for diesel generator (DG) backup is also very high compared to that in other societies.

Residents had a long list of complaints against the builder. Safety, security and the poor functioning of the lifts in the society were among them.

The builder had started the project in March, 2010, and had promised possession in 2013. But only 30 per cent homebuyers have been given possession of flats.
Representatives of the builder were not available for comment.
